Our new mood-board for this week!
Dress= Caroline Castigliano Adoration
Excitement is building for the launch of the latest Naomi Neoh collection at White Mischief in the next couple of weeks! Naomi's designs are perfect for our brides here at White Mischief; soft and dreamy with a hint of city-chic. We are in love with floaty organza skirts and intricate lace tops at present.
Naomi took a curious path to her career as a dress designer. She read physics at Durham and worked as an IT consultant and merchandiser before finding her true calling. Fabric has always been her first love - bridal wear allows an indulgence into the most luxurious silks, laces and embellishments. She creates dresses which feel fabulous to wear as well as making you look amazing.
Since the launch of her first bridal collection in 2008, the brand has grown into a dedicated team working from the West Dulwich studio where all the gowns are created.
Our new Maids to Measure bridesmaid gowns are STUNNING! We are so in love with them. The fabrics are so soft and the versatility of them really suits us here at White Mischief Bridal. Any bridesmaid will suit these designs, whether she be big, small, have a big and bubbly personality or she's a shy, quiet type. They are elegant and fun at the same time, no matter what style you go for. And the best thing is, if you don't 100% love the basic design, you can personalise them to suit your bridesmaids! Change a neckline, add sleeves, add lace, make a long dress short or a short dress long! With over 40 colours to choose from you will never be stuck for ideas.
We hope you love them as much as we do.
White Mischief is now the first official stockist of Maids to Measure. A bridesmaid company that offer your the flexibility to design your custom bridesmaid dresses. Choose from a wide range of colours, fabrics and shapes to best complement your bridesmaids and your wedding theme! No more of the dreaded and tiring bridesmaid shopping!
You can almost guarantee that your bridesmaids are all different shapes too right? So it makes shopping for one single dress that they will all like that bit harder? Well with Maids to measure the girls could wear exactly what suits their body shape, but still all work their looks in unison. Happy bridesmaids= Happy bride.
We've got fun and creative with a moodboard on sunny St George's day. We've picked a red and white 'proper' English style wedding! We've mixed up a 50s theme with afternoon tea, a countryside outdoor wedding, vintage style flowers and loud wedding stationery for an eclectic mix of all things great and English!
We chose our fabulous LouLou 50's inspired wedding gown. And what's a beautiful bride without her prince charming on the day? Pictured here in a rather untraditional suit. (Armoury not required-although does add to the historic English theme!)
'Hatinators' or a mix between a fascinator and a hat, are becoming more and more popular for the Bride, bridal party, or wedding party guests. Here is a new one that we received the other day that we took a quick snapshot of. It's so cute and looks amazing with our modern and tailored Jesus Peiro dresses, or teamed with a 50's inspired short LouLou gown.
Sian is a new addition to White Mischief, and as yet, she hasn't been released by Augusta Jones yet. But we're lucky enough to have her until she's released at the White Gallery in May. Here she is looking amazing in the window display teamed with one of our pretty belts in store. This boat neck style lace neckline is sooooo gorgeous! We loveee!

Saturday 6th April was a jubilant day for the White Mischief team celebrating our 8th birthday since opening! And it looked as if spring had finally sprung as the sun was (at last!) taking a peep out of the clouds in full support of our happy day.
For this fun filled event we had the full collection from VWDC by Charlie Brear in the shop along with a representative on hand who assisted all the brides with all the know-how of customising the various looks from their collection.
It is the eve of our birthday celebrations and we cannot wait to kick start our VWDC by Charlie Brear designer day!
Here is a little sneak peak of what's to come for our lovely brides tomorrow.
VWDC by Charlie Brear is our favourite vintage wedding dress collection in store and we pride ourselves on being the only stockist of them in the Brighton area.
If you are looking for something that's not your 'typical' wedding dress and want something that will show off your enviable figure, VWDC by Charlie Brear could be just the designer for you!
DON’T force them to look identical
Give them some freedom to choose their own style. Many brides choose the colours, then let the bridesmaids choose whatever they find comfortable.
DO ask them what they would like to wear
The whole experience needs to be fin for them too. Let them try on lots of different styles and make it a special girls’ day out for all of you!
DO play with lengths
Mix up the lengths so they aren’t all matchy-matchy.
Little strapless dresses look more interesting in different lengths and seamstresses can work wonders with any style!
Try one prom length, one tea-length and one full length.
DON’T expect your girls to spend a fortune on their dresses
Remember it may not be their own personal taste and they might not want to wear it again.
DO think comfort
Most women have a pair of shoes they can a) walk in, and b) find comfortable. As long as they are a neutral tone and not something totally unsuitable like UGG boots! Why not try to make them work to save on money and keep your bridesmaids happy?
DON’T dismiss vintage dresses or fabrics
Vintage can be amazing for totally unique bridesmaid or flower girl dresses and the fabrics are fabulous!
DO avoid any wardrobe malfunctions
Put the dresses to the test before the big day. Check hem lengths and any seams that look suspiciously weak. We don’t want any mishaps on the day!
DO consider a convertible dress
One that can be tied lots of different ways to create different looks, such as Two Bird Bridesmaid dresses.
DON’T forget to include your ‘maids when arranging your hair and makeup
You want them to look their most stunning, for their own self-esteem as well as the photographs.
If you DO insist on choosing everything without any input from your ‘maids
Buy them a gorgeous thank-you gift.
The Grand National is underway and we're expecting to see fascinators everywhere!

Easter is coming up and spring is just round the corner with the sun finally peeping through those cold, grey clouds. Frankly, the weather has been pretty miserable.. but it hasn't knocked our spirits or our chic sense of style!
We've been hard at work putting together a fabulous little Easter themed window with, one of our favourite Augusta Jones Bridal gowns, the stunning Jessie, taking centre stage!
Jessie is our beautiful bridal bunny, bringing sparkly gifs and treats to all our special brides this Easter.
Fabiola is one of our GORGEOUS new dresses from the Blue by Enzoani and it's taking centre stage in our city-chic spring-time window!
It looks fabulous next to our new pink Mother-of-the-bride dress by Michaela Louisa. Such an elegant look.
Feeling egg-specially Eastery? You will do once you've seen this wedding theme! Easter is such a lovely time of year to get married. An abundance of spring flowers, crisp weather and perfect pastel colour schemes go down a treat in March and April. The weather as we all know, can be ominous! But a sunny day would be a bonus!
We've used our fabulous Rita dress by Augusta Jones. The organza ruffles compliment the soft and mellow theme. Think pastel shades- here we use duck egg blue, pea green, dusky rose and butter yellow. Keep natural and organic with these wooden nest table displays. A fabulously creative DIY job that looks beautiful. And don't forget the eggs!! Whether decorative or edible! It wouldn't be Easter without them! Include them as part of your decor, table plans, wedding favours etc They have endless ways in which they can be used!

If you class yourself as a 'magpie', and have a bit of a soft spot for sparkly objects, then like most of the WM team, you'll go slightly googley eyed and fall head over heals in love with the Jenny Packham Accessory Collection. We could barely contain our excitement when unpacking the box of 'goodies' from Jenny Packham. We borrowed in most of their collection for our special event- which proved to be a vast selection of headpieces, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, belts, sparkly wraps and feather boleros! Enough to spoil any bride!
We transformed the end of the shop into our accessory boudoir and tempted brides and their family and friends with sweet treats and cakes provided by Kayleigh's Cakery. Boy did those cupcakes go down a treat! What more could a girl want?! Designer bling and delectable cupcakes!
Rebecca and Michael met at a wedding. Rebecca was a friend of the Bride and Michael was a friend of the Groom. It was a great wedding! If it wasn't for Leigh and Billy they would never have met, but it was a little cupid called Tash, who pushed Rebecca in Michael's direction. A few days later Michael had got hold of her number and it all went from there.
Since then their life together has been very happy, relaxed and action packed all summed up by our honeymoon to South America. We're a good team and enjoy the same things in life.
Michael proposed during a walk in the countryside at the top of Box Hill in Surrey. As soon as he got down on one-knee tears welled up in my eyes and I was lost for words. I wasn't expecting it at all which was brilliant.
He picked the perfect ring. In fact I don't think I could have chosen better; A beautiful sparkling diamond - not too overstated, just perfect.
I grew up in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, and Jamie grew up in Whitstable, Kent.
We met at Jamie's older sister's leaving party! I was living in Cardiff and was friends with Rachel, Jamie's older sister. Rachel was planning on emigrating to Australia with her family, and she had mentioned to me a few times that me and her brother would be a really good match. I didn't even know she had a brother and had never met him and just assumed she was trying to match-make us as we were both single. Plus as he lived in Brighton and I lived in Cardiff, and I had already had a couple of long-distance relationships, and didn't really want another one, I didn't think anymore of it, until she showed me a photo of Jamie, and I thought ooo he's quite nice! So, luckily for me, Jamie decided to attend Rachel's leaving party in Cardiff, and we met that night and completely hit it off and the rest is history! Jamie didn't know anything of Rachel's matchmaking efforts by the way, until the day after the party!
We started our relationship as a long-distance relationship, with me living in Cardiff and Jamie living in Brighton. We saw each other as often as we could, every other weekend if possible. It was tough sometimes, but we knew it was worth the effort, and after just over a year together, I managed to get a job in London and moved down to Brighton to live with Jamie. Life together is great. Jamie has a (now) 12-year-old son, who is with us every other night of the week and every other weekend, and he has been really great. I met him about a month after Jamie and I met and we got on from the word go, so we have been very lucky.
Today we've gone for a hint of blue and soothing neutral shades for our mischief moodboard. The Emily dress by Lea Ann Belter is a classic beauty, in feather-light silk and lace. It's complimented by the classic, and simple theme. This colour scheme is easy to acheive, and the neutral beige and ivory colour tones really make this a timeless wedding theme, plus it gives the bride her something blue!
The lovely and whimsical 'Willow' by Jenny Packham is an absolute steal in our sale- was £3460, down to £2450! Ivory, size 14, immaculate condition. Hurry up girls, she won't be around in the sale for long!! x
"Chic and Sweet Sensation". Caroline Castigliano's Belle gown works a dream in this soft colour scheme wedding. We've used soft pinks and complimented them with light sage/mint green and silver for a delicate yet modern wedding. Keep the look clean and fresh by keeping fairly minamilistic and timeless.
If not wearing or seeing your wedding gown after your wedding day makes you sad, why not have a personalised framed sketch done of your gown, so you can remind yourself each day of just how beautiful it was. If you're interested in having one done for yourself or as a present for a friend, get in contact with us.
We are always trying get creative in the shop and think up new ideas for brides to personalise their gowns.
It's how the bride makes her dress her own that really finishes off the 'look'.
Here we have our new dress, Nina by Augusta Jones with a simple bow around the waist.
It's amazing how something so simple can really transform a gown. We have also added a hoop under the skirt to give it more volume and make the waist look even smaller!
Nina has become a beautiful princess dress, without going too OTT!
Book an appointment today for our Vintage Wedding Dress Company designer weekend on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th February. Enjoy sweet treats, drinks, and expert styling advice from the VWDC team and the WM girls, as well as great discounts on the full 2013 VWDC collection that weekend!
Greg and myself met through a mutual friend Carlie. I worked with Carlie in my first job in London after leaving college. Even though we went separate ways through work we stayed friends and I was her bridesmaid at her wedding. Carlie had met Greg through her work and thought we would be a good match. So she took us both on a lunch to see if we liked the look of each other. A few weeks later Greg and myself went on a date to a bar by Tower Bridge and have been together ever since.
Our time together has been a whirlwind. Greg was offered a job in Canada only a few months after we met and told me he wanted me to go with him and would not take it unless I was with him. I knew he was the guy for me and said I would go. So we were both going on the biggest adventure of our lives together. We survived all the stress of moving to a different country and have now been in Canada for 2 years. It was hard to start out with as we did not know anyone so were in each other’s pockets, but in a way that was easy as we love being together. We have had the opportunity to see wonderful new places and discover new things and have done it together.
We're feeling a bit under the weather with the snow and bitter cold temperatures. So We're looking onto spring and putting the gloomy days behind us. We love the peaches and cream delight theme here. Shown with our gorgeous Jesus Peiro 3072 dress. A perfect spring wedding theme!
New Mother of the Bride/Groom dresses now arriving in store. Get set for that summer wedding!
August 16th 1996, at just after midnight, boy meets girl and they fall in love. We were both very young, I was just 16 and Paul was 19. We met on a night out and danced all night long, barely able to hear each other over the music but who needs words when you are in the moment and every look and action conveys so much more.
We quickly became infatuated and fell in love, in a way that only teenagers know how. It was fast and hopeless, we were driven by teenage impulsivity and emotional intoxication. He seemed like the perfect boy and I just could not get enough of being with him and learning about him, his ways, his traits, deciphering what a look meant, and how important each kiss was.
Our Jenny Packham Accessory event is an event not to be missed! Sarah grew up in Biggin Hill and Iain in Lincoln. They met through a friend of Sarah’s who she went to university with. He joined the RAF after university and she was invited to attend an RAF summer ball at RAF Benson where she met Iain, a helicopter pilot in the RAF.
Originally when they first met, Iain was based in Oxfordshire and Sarah was living in Southampton so there was about a 2 hour commute between them. But they wished the weeks away so that the weekends would come round quickly and they would be able to visit each other!
After about a year of this they decided it was time to take the plunge and move in together. They brought a house and ever since then, it has been adventurous and full of fun!
Iain proposed to me on Sunday 4th December 2011. We spent the afternoon putting up and decorating our Christmas tree in our house, we'd had some mulled wine and mince pies and been listening to our favorite Christmas songs.
I was about to turn on the TV to watch Strictly Come Dancing (I'm a bit of an avid fan) when Iain said there was one more decoration for me yet, and with that got down on one knee and opened a little black velvet Tiffany's box.
I squealed! Blinked back tears and said YES!
It’s a beautiful Princess cut diamond solitaire ring which sits on a knife-edge platinum band.
With Christmas looming, the new year will soon be upon us which means it's time to grab yourself a January BARGAIN! Up to 80% off sample gowns- DON'T MISS OUT!! Book your appointment today! For other in store promotions please visit us. Call 01273 495566 NOW!
Sarah grew up in Cornwall and Steve in London. They met purely by chance, two days after New Years Day 2011 at a mutual friend's pub. Sarah was living in Los Angeles and was home for Christmas, visiting her friend in Sussex for a few days on her way back to LA. Three months later she was caught in the Japan earthquake; which was a terrible and life changing experience. Sarah came home to the UK for a brief visit to reassure her family that she was ok. Being sure not to take life for granted and to grab any opportunity life gave to her after her terrifying ordeal, Sarah also said yes to her first date with Steve.
After two more trips back and forth to LA, they were engaged on Easter Monday 2011 and married 11.11.11. A whirlwind romance!
Our life as a couple has been wonderful - lots of readjustments with me moving back to the UK after 13 years living in Los Angeles plus inheriting a ready made family (Steve has daughters)! We laugh a lot, work hard and revel in the fact we found each other.
We have fallen in love with our latest addition to the Caroline Castigliano range that we have in store. 'Infinity'. What a beaut!
We met when I was 18 and Will was 25.
I was a matron at a boy's prep school in Bury and Will was captain of the local cricket team where some of the teachers played .
We moved in together straight away and bought a house of our own four years later. We make each other laugh everyday and I think that's important!
He took me to Nymans gardens on a very warm, sunny day in September and we had a picnic. That’s when he popped the big question!
I had seen the ring in a jewellers in Chichester, but thought it was way out of our budget. I had no idea Will was planning to buy it, until I spoiled it a couple of weeks later and told him that I don't like surprises so he told me. It is a brilliant cut diamond solitaire ring with a tapered baguette diamond on either side.
It was lovely to have met the local people of Henfield last night. The whole town really came together and there were smiling faces to be seen everywhere. The sounds of Christmas music filled the whole high street, complimented by the chiming of children's laughter and the smell of cakes and mulled wine brought a real sense of cheer and warmth!
We were joined by Kayleigh from 'Kaylee's Cakery', who had baked an array of delicious Christmas themed cup-cakes and Natasha from Natasha's Beauty Salon who had a wonderful selection of stocking fillers for the girls!
We are so very pleased to announce, that our window displays have been awarded the the 'Best Theme' award for Henfield's Christmas Competition!
We want to give a big thank you to Amaryllis Events, for all their help and for the use of their props. We couldn't have made it all so beautiful without them. And we would love to give a massive CONGRATULATIONS to our Visual Merchandising team, here at White Mischief!
Girls, you did good!
We hope you love our windows as much as we do! Let us know what you think!
Kate and Jonny’s relationship has always been wonderful but certainly varied. They've most definitely had their ups and downs - the biggest probably being Kate’s leaving for Australia in 2007. She soon realised her mistake and begged for him back on her return!
Jonny proposed on my doorstep to my flat in Parsons Green. Bless him, he was on both knees as he didn’t know which one was the right one apparently..
I am of course biased but my ring is pretty special. I inherited some diamonds from my Grandmother and always told my Mother, in the unlikely event anyone asks for my hand in marriage, I would like these diamonds to make up the ring. Lo and behold… I got what I wanted.
Jenny Packham Azalea gown in store now at White Mischief. Looking absolutely fabulous on the Jenny Packham Catwalk. Part of the 2013 Collection. More styles in store.
The Visual Merchandising Team at White Mischief have created an Epic Christmas Window Display for 2012. Following the theme of Swan Lake, with the White Swan and the Black Swan, the girls have assembled a very atmospheric and magical arrangement this year. Our Caroline Castigliano gown Belle poses as the White Swan, whilst our Jenny Packham Tuberose acts as the black swan. The girl's took their ideas from a quote found from a Swan Lake poem which reads 'Her soul will be a swan, until she feels the love of nobleman'. We think the window holds a meaningful depth to it, encompassing the joyous spirit of finding love and freedom. We continued the pink and girly colour scheme for our evening wear department- the fun factor for the party season! A big Well Done to the team for completing another successful window display. But importantly we owe a huge Thank you to Amaryliss Events who have kindly loaned us the props that we used to create our masterpiece.
November 9th 2012
Thousands of brides had the chance to win an opportunity to enjoy a lavish ‘girls day out’ appointment at White Mischief. All they had to do was ‘get social with White Mischief’ during the National Wedding Show. 7 Lucky brides who re-tweeted and liked our post on Facebook were chosen at random.
It was a beautifully crisp wintery morning, but the numbingly cold weather was soon subsided by the wafting aromas of calorific cakes and scrummy nibbles. (Perhaps not the best diet for the bride before her big day!) We White Mischief girls were drowsy and sleep deprived from midnight cupcake baking but the sweet sugar high from devouring all the delectable leftover cake mixture spiked our energy levels! Naughty naughty..!
Gingerbread hearts, red velvet cupcakes, vanilla sponge heart loaf cake, and pink smarties adorned the sweetie table. We even had chocolate coated strawberries for the brides who perhaps didn’t want to increase their waist size dramatically before their big day!
Although, how any normal woman could resist temptation is beyond me. We naturally inherit a ‘sweet tooth’ as females right?! They say chocolate releases happy hormones and endorphins... you can see why... just look at this palatable table of treats!! It made us happy :)
For all you bride's that love a bit of Jenny Packham... here are two fabulous images of our Jenny Packham gowns on the National Wedding Show Catwalk. Jenny Packham Tuberose. Jenny Packham Muscari.
Azalea by Jenny Packham is now in store and it is exquisite! This beautiful photograph of it shows just how beautiful especially once on a bride.
The layers of tulle give it that extra dimension, while the fit highlights curves perfectly. Entirely hand beaded, the abstract flowers give the striking dress a softer feel while the colouring gives a regal aura to the overall look.
Claudia grew up in Pulborough, West Sussex and Chris in Brentwood, Essex and met through work in London.
On Claudia’s 30th birthday, Chris took her to Brighton for the day, one of her favourite places. Despite the drizzle they took a stroll along the pier and on the beach. It was there that he dropped to one knee, produced a platinum ring with a 1 carat princess cut solitaire diamond and proposed!
I hunted high and low for my gown, but finally found it at White mischief Bridal. I tried on a few different styles, but everything was either too plain or way to fussy! Until I came across Connie, by Augusta Jones; A strapless, lace A-line gown, with sparkles all over. It flattered my figure perfectly and I felt amazing in it as soon as I put it on!
Right Brides- For those of you on a budget you're in good hands!! We're holding our annual mega sale event on Sunday 25th November. You could bag yourself a designer frock with up to an 80% discount! If you know what you're after and want a soiled bargain then this is the event for you!! For an idea, you can see some of the selection on our "goodbye collection", but we'll be adding plenty of other gowns on the day. To book an appointment call us on 01273 495566.
Brand new dresses have arrived from the Vintage Wedding Dress Company. Each dress has optional extras such as silk or lace sleeves in a variety of lengths, and also sashes for an extra little detail. Sumptously soft silk fabrics to die for!! We are in love!
Emma and Dave both grew up in the South of England and met in 2003, when Emma did work experience at a music company that Dave worked for.
They were friends for a year before they had their first date and since then, have hardly been apart for more than a few days. They both have a deep passion for music as well as a similar outlook on life and so it was a match made in heaven really.
Dave proposed to me on my 25th birthday. I had no idea but he had booked a room in a Brighton hotel called Sea Spray called the Venetian room. As we both love Venice and I collect Venetian masks it was perfect. Champagne was waiting for us in the room and Dave had brought a CD of songs we love for the stereo they had. We had ordered a taxi to take us to a restaurant that Dave had booked and as he helped me on with my coat before we left the room he brought a ring box in front of me. He then got down on one knee and proposed. It was a complete surprise and we went to dinner feeling so happy and planning the date already!
Leanne and Greg’s relationship has been full of fun, lots of love and laughs straight from the word go! The two met through work and were friend for a year or so until Leanne left to go traveling for a year. They stayed in touch throughout that time and when Leanne returned, her sister threw her a surprise ‘Welcome Home’ party. Greg went along, and the rest is history.
Greg proposed on Christmas day whilst the couple were opening presents in bed. He gave her a card, which read Happy Christmas to My Fiance! And she said ‘yes’ straight away!
My ring is a Princess cut diamond with 2 tear-drop diamonds either side in a platinum setting. Greg chose it himself and I love it!

We are proud to be one of only a few selected stockists in the UK to be holding a comprehensive collection of Lea Ann Belter Bridal designs. Made in Toronto in the finest Silks and French Alencon laces, resulting in a light featherweight feel, they are a dream to wear for any bride. Each gown is entirely reverse–stitched and fully lined in silk. The fabric touching your skin during the most important day of your life is as fine and soft as the fabric your gown is crafted in — you could really wear the gown inside out if you wanted to. Lea Ann also swears by a no-waste policy meaning every single scrap of fabric is used or recycled. We think they're so beautiful!! And we're very excited to be holding them on our shop floor as of today 25th June 2012! Check out the dresses on our Bridal dresses page.
